The members of the BCOL Detroit Chapter as a combined unit have more experience than the average band, The members have recorded, toured and played with the big name acts of the last century. They have traveled around the world individually numerous times and are here to bring to you a wealth of experience in their music.
A short list of well know acts the Detroit Chapter of the BCOL band has played with include: Wild Cherry, Sly & the Family Stone, Marvin Gaye, Minnie Ripperton, The Supremes, The Temptations, Little Richard, Earth Wind and Fire, The Jacksons, Brothers Johnson, War, Bobby Womack, Aretha Franklin, Carolyn Franklin, Millie Jackson, The Funk Brothers, Roy Ayers, Labelle, Marlena Shaw, Chilites, Stylistics, KEM, George Benson, and, Little Eva, Dee Dee Sharp, and Tiny Tim, Popcorn Wiley, Carl Carlton, Kim Weston, to name a few Grant Green, Les Mccann, Captain Rock, Anita Baker, Mickey Howard, Shanice Wilson, Otis Day and the Knights, Jean Carn, Michael Henderson, The Floaters, The Dramatics, The Commodores, Mick Fleetwood, and Ollie Woodsons, and Richard Streets Temptations, and so many more.
Band Leader Marty Saxman Montgomery has won an American Music award, and a Grammy for the song “Play that Funky Music”. He alone brings over 40 years of experience to the group and is proof that when you stick to what you love, you can go far.
Some of the members have acting experience as well and have made appearances on shows like The Tonight Show, Merv Griffin, Dinah Shore, Midnight Special, Jenny Jones and many, many more. Our drummer Butter Hawkins is currently on the Detroit Pistons Drum line and was one of the lead drummers on the movie “Drumline”, along with a role in the new “Sparkle”, movie with Whitney Houston.
Bringing all of these talented musicians together is Elaine Montgomery, the band manager and former host of the Gospel Connection radio broadcast on KSTL am in St. Louis MO, and a Writer Producer from WMUZ in Detroit Michigan. Her experience with creatively writing & the production of commercials, and organizing the talent to perform them, has given her the ability to organize and get the band where they need to be quickly, and without breaking the budget.
Marty has pulled together the best of the best to form the BCOL Detroit Chapter Band to share the true sound of Detroit with Clarksville Tennessee.
